Steven I. Fried, Esq.

Steven I. Fried, Esq. has been fighting insurance companies and negligent defendants for 15 years. Mr. Fried takes pride in helping injured persons in car accidents,
slip and falls,
trip and falls,
construction accidents, medical malpractice and negligent security cases.
Mr. Fried's formula for success is best summarized in his own words:
"We take a unique approach to representing injured clients. Although we have resolved numerous multi-million dollar accident cases, no case is too big or too small. Every accident case we accept, whether 'big' or 'small,' is BIG in my mind, as each accident case is of great importance to the client."
He is highly regarded for having obtained significant recoveries in New York personal injury accident cases for clients who have suffered spinal injuries including herniated and bulging discs, fractures, scarring, strains and sprains, ligament, muscle and tendon tears, meniscus tears, and other injuries causing pain and suffering, lost earnings and other damages.
Mr. Fried has lectured on the laws surrounding construction accidents to labor unions and minority trade associations. He is a graduate of the George Washington University (B.A. 1989) and of Brooklyn Law School (J.D. 1992). Mr. Fried is a member of the New York State Bar Association, New York County Lawyers Association and the New York Trial Lawyers Association.
Some of Mr. Fried's most recent successes include:
$12,000,000.00 settlement on behalf of a 22-year-old worker who fell from a rooftop due to improper placement of scaffolding. Our client sustained brain injuries and partial paralysis. The recovery allowed him to receive cash awards and periodic payouts for the remainder of his life.
$3,700,000.00 mediated settlement on behalf of a five-year-old boy who was struck by a school bus as he was crossing the street in Bronx County, sustaining severe scarring and skull fractures.
$1,375,00.00 in a legal malpratcice case on behalf of an injured worker. His attorneys sued the wrong defendants/parties and his underlying construction site accident case was dismissed. Our firm sucessfully sued his prior attorneys for malpractice, recovering our client substantial damages.
$1,200,000.00 mediated settlement on behalf of a demolition worker who had a cart tip and fall on him due to defective flooring at a work site.
$875,000.00 mediated settlement for our client who fell off an improperly placed ladder at a construction site in Yonkers.
$600,000.00 settlement on behalf of a laborer who tripped and fell on debris at a work site sustaining severe leg fractures requiring surgery.
$285,000.00 pre-trial settlement for a 27-year-old pedestrian struck by a truck door-mirror. Client suffered a partial tear of a shoulder tendon treated with surgery. Defendants claimed our client was outside the crosswalk at the time of impact. The matter was resolved pre-jury selection in Manhattan (Supreme Court, New York County).
$100,000.00 post-deposition settlement for a 43-year-old pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the street. Our client sustained severe neck injuries resulting in surgical fusion of discs in her cervical spine, which required physical therapy. Through aggressive litigation a settlement was obtained in an amount equal to the entire amount available under the insurance policy. An asset search revealed that the defendant had no personal assets. (Supreme Court, Bronx County).
$100,000.00 pre-suit settlement for a 50-year-old passenger in a truck being driven on a highway in upstate New York. The truck's tires failed, blowing out on the road, sending the truck into a barrier and flipping it. Our firm had an expert inspect the tires before they were destroyed and our expert determined that the owner of the truck failed to maintain the tires, causing the tires to blow. Our client suffered a fractured pelvis and missed six months of work.
$80,000.00 mediated settlement for a 33-year-old Westchester man struck in the rear by an inattentive driver. After Mr. Fried convinced the Court that the defendant was negligent as a matter of law for striking our client's car in the rear, the insurance company having lost on liability requested a mediation to resolve the case before trial. (Supreme Court, Westchester County).
$75,000.00 for a 74-year-old Brooklyn woman who tripped on a defective sidewalk in front of a pharmacy, fracturing her humerus(arm). The pharmacy's lawyers claimed the accident occurred in their store, not the sidewalk. Through use of a private investigator, we were able to track down an eyewitness who confirmed our client's version of the accident. The insurance company for the pharmacy, realizing their defense had been shattered, soon resolved the matter to our client's satisfaction.
In his free time, when Mr. Fried is not busy with his three children, he can likely be found on the golf course, basketball court or playing racketball.
