Daniel Hochheiser Defends "Manhattan Madam" Kristen Davis Against Drug Charges

|

Attorney Daniel Hochheiser was recently hired to represent "Manhattan Madam" Kristen Davis, who was arrested and charged with selling prescription pain killers last August. Davis previously made headlines when she was accused of running a high-end prostitution ring in New York City that offered its services to a number of high-profile clients—including former Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who she later ran against for New York City Comptroller in the 2013 election. Davis has since been accused of drug dealing, but maintains that she is innocent. Although she has pleaded not guilty to the charges and waived her right to be accused by a grand jury—which is a move that typically results in a plea agreement—Mr. Hochheiser explains that they look forward to trial.

Dan further stated that "In the federal system, to get an indictment is a test of nothing because the agent goes in with hearsay on top of hearsay. This is just more of a defense strategy that I can't go into detail about." Davis was arrested and charged with four counts of possessing and distributing controlled substances after allegedly selling prescription drugs to an FBI cooperating witness between January 7 and April 24 of last year, but Mr. Hochheiser believes that "these are local allegations dressed up as a federal case, created because of who Ms. Davis is and not because of any interstate criminal activity." For this reason, he remains confident about the future of the case. If you are interested in learning more about Daniel Hochheiser's involvement in this case, you can read the full story here.
